Ladies and Gentlemen, we present to you the results of the gender prediction poll.  Drum roll please!

Looks like "Girl" took over the results at the last minute.  Now the real question is, what will the ultrasound reveal tomorrow?!  Keep your fingers crossed for a cooperative kiddo so we can give you the news and see if your guess was right!  Thank you to everyone who participated :)  We hope you enjoyed being able to have some extra fun with our blog.  Here is to hoping for more news in February!!

A Couple Firsts...

Crazy food happenings...
Last night we had the pleasure of hanging out with a friend for dinner and enjoying a delicious meal.  Normally this would not be anything big but Julie had her FIRST official experience with jalapeno and habanero peppers.  Now, if you know Julie, she barely touches black pepper!  Well, our friend cooked shrimp in the peppers and later added lime juice and cilantro to counter act the spice....we were both a bit nervous about Julie and the peppers. It did end up being on the spicy side but Julie handled it just fine!  Maybe it's the hormones but either way, it was a crazy change of events.  Highest spice level for Julie before the kiddo was mild salsa and finally working her way up to Taco Bell's Hot Sauce.  Whether or not this experiment will be repeated or continue is yet to be determined.

First Days at Work
Curtis returned to his squadron today after having been on a temporary assignment duty (TAD) for a few months and will be working on his qualifications and launching/recovering F-18s.  This means that Julie will return to blaming Curtis for jet noise when he comes home from work ;) On the bright side, we figure that our kiddo should be able to sleep through anything if they're getting used to jet noise in the womb...fingers crossed!

Julie signed her paper for being a permanent substitute at Bayside High School today and worked in the office as a secretary.  This is not the same Bayside that Zack Morris and friends attended, sorry!  Subbing as a secretary is actually how Julie got her foot in the door at this high school and enjoys working with the office ladies but still hopes to get her own social studies classroom in the future.  Next up, getting an ID badge to make it even more official! It will be a change to be assigned to jobs rather than picking and choosing but in the end, it will all be worth it.  This will be the second time that Julie has gotten a job at just the right time!  Hello Station Friends!!  You are missed and thought about often! :)

Current Poll Results...
At the moment, your poll results show the favorite answer is boy.  Keep voting!  We will post results Thursday night and HOPEFULLY have an answer Friday evening.

Funny Baby Quote of the Day:
"Are you SURE there is a baby in there?" - one of Julie's co-workers

Pictures to Enjoy :)

Curtis took this picture of Julie and Béla snuggled up on a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Some how Julie is curled in a ball while Béla is spread out.
We had our first official snow on Thursday but it melted soon after it fell.  This picture is from the snow on Friday that actually stuck and ended up being about an inch and a half.  These children were using a garbage bin and a big kitchen spoon to scoop up the snow.  It was very entertaining and it was our first Virginia snow.

Expanding Our Family!

We found out near the end of October that the Spencer Household would be expanding!  We officially found out on November 29th that we would be adding ONE Baby Spencer.  Sorry to those of you asking about twins but it's NOT happening! Our quiet family of 2, and 1 spoiled cat, will have to make room for our 1st kiddo June 27, 2013.

As of this post Julie is almost at 18 weeks and finally showing a little baby bump.  Thankfully, there was only nausea and exhaustion in the early stages.  Other than that, things have been going pretty well and we have all been thankful for that.  Béla has been putting in extra snuggle time with Julie and the kiddo since a week before we found out.  Perhaps animals really do know things we don't...We think she is trying to teach them how to purr and perhaps meow.

We have not found out the gender yet but are hoping we will find out on February 1st at our big ultrasound appointment so check back in to find out!  The doctor/Captain (we are going to a Navy base after all) tried to take a look around week 12 and apparently we have a gymnast/yoga master on our hands!  The kiddo was doing a headstand with legs crossed.  Fingers crossed they have learned to be more cooperative this next time around.  If you haven't noticed, we have continued our favorite theme of browns, greens, and white/creme :)

In the mean time, Julie was just offered a permanent substitute position at a local high school and will start on Monday.  Permanent substitutes out here report to the same school every day and fill in where needed throughout the building.  This is a step up and hopefully more to come from it in the future.  Curtis will be reporting back to his original command next week after a few months of having been on a temporary assignment duty (TAD).  He will hopefully be earning his Aviation Warfare wings in the very near future and also become a plane captain (PC) where he can launch and recover the F-18s on his own.  We are both making progress in work which is always a good thing!  Béla is still a freeloader, of course, and is still playing fetch and being a good little girl! One new trick that she accomplished with training from her Uncle Jim was chasing after the laser light, jumping up the wall and turning on a light.  True story.  It has happened once with us and once with Jim.  Whether it can be performed a third time, who knows!  All in all, we are all doing well and looking forward to all that is to come.

Our wonderful families are also in the process of putting together two baby showers for us in IL, one in Northern and a second in Central.  We are VERY THANKFUL for them taking the time, effort, and putting in all the hard work to make this happen.  Julie is excited to make the trip back to Illinois, but sad that Curtis will not be able to join her, and see the final results of all the hard work.  Again, thank you to both of our families for doing this!

Be on the lookout for Baby Spencer's gender!!
